Well it went down today. Sorry there was no Mac Mini. Here are the major announcements:

  • iTunes will now be (for the most part) DRM FREE !!! That means its now okay for you to buy a song and do whatever the hell with it, including put it on devices other than an iPod.
  • You can now download music to your iPhone 3G, without being connected to WiFi
  • The 17″ Unibody Macbook pro was also announced and will be shipping soon. Although they mentioned that the battery life has drastically improved (8hrs), it’s non-removable. How do you guys feel about that??
  • For those of you iLife and iWork users, the 09 version is shipping with tons of new features. We will have to dig into these in a later post. The new Geo-Tagging / Integration with Facebook is very slick.
  • The new version of Garage band has something I think is very exciting for the music industry. You can now learn how to play musical instruments, using your Mac. The software comes bundled with video lessons from pro-musicians. To spice things up even more, Apple is reaching out to popular artists and offering premium lessons for around $4.95 a video. This is the kind of progress that the music industry needs. Who knows what this could lead to…..

Well thanks to Skippy, we know now that Walmart will be carrying the iPhone 3G soon. Now that Walmart is going to be strong in the wireless department, every other store can officially close. Cheers.

iPhone Street View of Times Square NYC
iPhone Street View of Times Square NYC

Wow! Street View, Train and Bus Directions, Much Faster / Smoother performance, Over-The-Air Podcast downloads, More keyboard options, improved app store, better browsing and much more. I know I know, still no copy & paste, still no MMS, still no push notifications, but hey, at least they’re working. If you’re in the tri-state you will LOVE the bus and train schedules on this one. You can also ‘email your location.’ I’ve noticed better battery life, and I don’t think its placebo. Put your iPhone typing skills to the test, disable Auto-Correct, tell us how its working out for you. Read more »

According to 9to5mac Sony and Apple may be working to bring DRM free music to iTunes (plus). This might be happening since Amazon’s DRM free store is getting so much love lately…think this could really go through?

The apple-o-sphere is ringing. Brick? $800 book? Solid Aluminum case? Dual Touch Screen? …must I go on? The point is, October 14th we’ll finally get to see something. No more mockups.  I’m not gonna say which source I think is most credible, I think i’m more impressed with the creativity of YOU, the community. Your photoshop prototypes, creative bs rumors, all made for pretty good products. I just hope apple was just as fascinated with your work as I was. Keep the rumors coming!

    If it aint broke…break it.

Greed will kill us all… iTunes might be shutting down. The National Music Publishers’ Association is trying to get more money from iTunes. How does Apple respond? You guessed it, threatened to shut down iTunes. The only possible fix for this would probably be if Apple were to raise the price of music, which I don’t think will happen since Apple isn’t the negotiating type. Lets all keep our fingers crossed….

    Mossberg And Steve Jobs

Ssssooo with Various sources including Walt Mossberg leaking info on the 3G iPhone dropping in June, its causing mixed reactions, A Lot of people, like me, are Mad Hype because it’s very promising to possibly have a phone with the capability of ichat, Clean, but some people are tight, like me, who the hell is gonna have another 3 or 4 hundred or more bucks for a significant hardware upgrade(which means I need it) when less than a year ago I dropped cash on this one that’s about to feel ancient already, and I love my iphone but once again Apple Come On!

But on the upside who knows what else it will feature……

    BIG Apple Talks:

    As seen on FinancialTimes.com

And I thought those of you that wouldn’t go to that site might like to know Apple is in talks with big music companies about “Unlimited Music Plan“. Users would be given the option to pay something like 20bux a month, for unlimited ITunes music access. Now IF you can jump in and out of that plan, like only pay for the months you want to use it, That will be Clean!  (Shout K. Civil)
