Blackberry Playbook thinks it knows the plays

Today Rim has announced their new tablet called “The Playbook.” The tablet will be using a new os called QNX, which is newly acquired by Rim. The OS will have full OpenGL and Posix support alongside web standards such HTML5. According to Rim “QNX is going to enable things that you have never seen before”. Rim also plans on diving into the gaming world with the tablet stating that the Playbook will be “an incredible gaming platform for publishers and the player”. The play book is also taking steps in the right direction and offering the ability to take on Flash content showing Flash 10.2 and using Adobe’s Air apps. Rim has dubbed the product as “The first Professor tablet”. Out the box The playbookwill being sporting a 1ghz Cpu cual processor, 7 inch 1024×600 multitouch screen, front and rear cameras (front camera 3 megapixel, Back 5 megapixel) and 1gb of ram of Ram. Rim is planning to put themselves in the same league as ApplesIpad along with future tablets hitting the market later this year. There is concrete release date or pricing for the Playbook but Rim has mention the device should be released sometime in Spring 2011
